Exe Valley

The organisers have decided that as they are mainly an
old car club, not primarily into organising competitive events, that they cannot
run the event in 2008

The Exe Valley Trial organised by the Crash Box & Classic
Car Club is a round
of the Car and Motorcycle ACTC and the Competition Car Insurance ASWMC
Classic Reliability Trials Championships.
The main trophy has been given to the Club by the family of Angus Stewart who
sadly passed away since the last Exe Valley Trial. Angus had been involved in
trialling since the 1940s mainly with his Ford Pop, but latterly marshalling
at
most events in the south west. A true gentleman greatly missed.
The start and finish will be at the Exeter Court Hotel, Kennford, immediately
off
the A38, approximately 1 mile from the end of the M5.
The 75 mile route will include 13 or 14 observed sections and 2 or 3 observed
tests and traverse some of the most spectacular scenery in the Country,
especially where the route takes you through the heart of Dartmoor. If we are
blessed with a little damp weather, the trial will be challenging to both
novice
and expert.
There will be the usual mix of hills, some more challenging than others (any
bike
only section will be less severe than last year!) and will include Haldon
Forest
and Upper Kingswell before Blackalders Lane, Oldridge, Tillerton, Fingle
Woods, Rebels Way, John Grant’s Lane Test, Northwood, Simms, Tipley, Copse
Lane Test and Waterless Lane – similar to last year.
Additional regulations and entry form are available from Secretary of the
Meeting James Clark evenings on 01647 252572 or myself on 07788 411161.
All ACTC and ASWMC contenders will automatically receive regulations.
If you are not competing and you or any friends wish to marshal in this
beautiful
part of Devon, Chief Marshal Zoe Clark would be only too pleased to hear from
you. Zoe’s contact number is 01647 252572.
